What do you get when you combine the Kinect SDK with the Mercury Particle Engine? Awesome fun Smile!

Check out a small video:

I’m off to New York this week so rather then just tempt you with a video, how about the full source code so you can run this demo yourself and modify?

You will need to:

  • Install the KinectSDK
  • Install the Voice SDK and language packs
  • Buy a Kinect, rumour is big specials current – AU$160 with powerpack.
  • Visual Studio 2010

Source code is here.

Catch me on twitter with your feedback, ideas and how you use this.

Re: Kinect SDK with the Mercury Particle Engine

Very nice example indeed. I'm trying to run it on my environment, but I guess I might be missing something. When I open up the project in VS2010, it issues a warning saying that it couldn't find the 'Microsoft.Speech' referenced component. If I try to rebuild everything, then a couple errors appear, all related to the Speech library, such as "The type or namespace 'Speech' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'. Oddily enough, I did install the Microsoft Speech SDK 5.1 before attempting to open and run this project, but I'm getting these errors anyway. Any ideas? I would love to see this running, so I could better study and maybe contribute back with some ideas.

Re: Kinect SDK with the Mercury Particle Engine

Hello.
When I run the application, only the main window appears blank, nothing appears or respond to speech commands.

Re: Kinect SDK with the Mercury Particle Engine

Hi all,
If you're running the latests build (Beta 2) of the SDK there have been a bunch of changes.

For this demo you also need to have XNA installed.
