Tips for people who work from home

In less than 2 weeks I start a new contract where everyone works from home.  So i've started preparing myself for it...

I've bought myself a few things...
1. Logitech 350 usb skype headset to talk to my new workmates
2. Dell 9400 lappy so i can be a bit mobile and have the processor power to run VS2005

Already have cable internet, and aircon in the room...

Put a few things in place to encourage work...
1. I've got my soul solution work shirts so i can know i'm at work and stop myself working in my pj's
2. Cleaned up the study so it's left handed friendly, have the ability to plug into the desktop screen for 2 screen work environment, and to help prevent me working in bed
3. Lined up the dog to do code reviews...well i can walk him through it and find my own mistakes
4. Will continue my "don't eat at your desk" rule

Any other words of advice?

more advice? Yeah.. make sure you don't have any fun or addictive games on the laptop. or and bittorrent downloads of TV shows/movies you have not seen. When working from home the temptation is great to just go "Hmm.. I think I will watch an episode of Lost now"

I could setup some sort of electric door lock on a timer?
1. Lots of virtual communication like Messenger, Skype etc.
2. Get out of the house to have lunch at least once per week. Join me at pub Friday ;)
3. Keep a timesheet, quite likely to work 50 hours without noticing since you don't spend 2 hours in traffic everyday!
4. Beware of the Fridge's transportation powers....

1. Don't let the kids near your machine. Even for the "innocent" Messenger. One click and your machine is full of adware, spyware, and/or viruses.
2. lock up the snacks
3. take scheduled breaks, get up have a stretch and a walk.
4. don't eat your meals in front of the PC, sit outside for a while.

Yeah, definitely i am agreed with it because it's a very fabulous way of earning money at home as well as it is very helpful for our growth. I think it's a good source of learning also it can be a part time or full time based it depends on the person that till what time does he/she works. Great post i look forward to reading more.

That's Great it’s a magnificent tips for anyone mostly who wants to work at home. It's a good resource of earning money and lot's of people are using to it. I think we can grow our career by doing these types of jobs. Great post i look forward to reading more!
